Our story

Takayama & Beyond was founded with a single conviction:
that the most valuable thing a traveller can bring home is a genuine human and cultural connection.

Based in Takayama's historic Old Town, we design and operate private experiences for independent travelers and travel trade partners alike. Every experience runs exclusively for your group.

We work with local families, craftspeople, tea masters, and farmers who open their homes and workshops to small groups of guests — not because it's convenient, but because they believe in sharing what makes this place extraordinary.

My grandfather, who loved living in Takayama in the entire life, had often said —

“Takayama is not a easy place to reach. If someone makes the journey, they deserve a warm welcome, even if we’ve only just met.”

and we stand by that.
